Hello, I’m Michael Cady Uris—author of the newly released memoir, The Uris Trinity.
Who am I? A man approaching a senior discount, with a positive outlook
I grew up in a literary atmosphere where my father inspired nations and turned the tides of history. A great deal of my life is devoted to humor, but I am no stranger to tragedy—to move one heart is to move our entire civilization in a positive direction.
Much of this drove me to write The Uris Trinity, an explosive exposé about my troubled adolescent years and private relationship with my humanitarian father Leon Uris, one the most well-read novelists of the 20th century—with a worldwide readership nearing one billion. There are no boundaries uncrossed in this moving recall of events—bringing the reader from the heights of inspiration to the depths of human suffering. A lighthearted, shocking and profound tale about what makes a man—never before revealed.
“Being honest with yourself is a very tough job. We are not only imperfect—we have done a lot of unmentionable things. It takes a lot of guts to write and most people cut that off before ever starting. Never hesitate entering the inner vaults of your mind, filled with all the lies, cheating, greed, fear and repulsion—for only in confronting our deepest fears can we expose what is really hidden in our hearts and soul.” - The Uris Trinity
What inspires me to write
The need to share my world as a philosopher, humanitarian, naturalist, health fanatic, biographer, novelist and humorist. As a former automated control system analysis in the electrical field, I had my fill of ‘working for the man’ in the city, so I packed up and moved to the central Californian coast to spend my days surrounded by the wonders of nature. Having financial freedom was not the answer to my quest—only the beginning. Sharing our lives and inspiration is where I feel at home, to be one with the universal ocean—for when the drop merges in the ocean it gains all the power and wisdom of the ocean—to go anywhere and do anything, instantaneously.
Through a slew of failed relationships, I managed to maintain my personal morals
I enjoy life, achieving intellectual and spiritual growth, pursuing ideals and passions with the help of close caring friends. Being human, I long for emotional and physical intimacy. Doing the right thing, rational and just, considerate and respectful, my life has always been about giving. Love has a way of evening the score. I have no fears, and do not lack in confidence or the wish to inspire others. Financial wealth means nothing compared to the treasures we hold in our hearts. I love art, beauty, music and the subtle sounds of the sphere’s that I hear during daily meditation—wisdom and serenity rule my world, along with an occasional walk along the shoreline at sunset.
Finding the source of my existence, turning faith into certainty, solving world problems at a glance, telling those who think differently that it’s okay—I love them just the same. That’s who I am.
The reader deserves to experience life
When we shed outer knowledge and empty the mind then we can experience the true knowing. This comes from experience, not knowledge. Only on that level can one claim to know.
That is what I strive for in my writing—to bring the reader into my world so they can feel what I feel—my joys, my stories, my revelations, my comedies and my tragedies of life. The reader deserves to experience life. That is what is at the helm of my process. That’s what I learned from Dad. Writing is from the heart and you need to be able to speak from one heart to another.
